Just a few days ago my husband said “I just need to get out of here.” Within 4 hours we had booked an Airbnb, found a dog sitter, packed the car and were headed for Panama City Beach.

I’m generally a planner. One who takes days, if not weeks to book a vacation because I’m researching and trying to find the absolute best price and place for our trip. This trip was one of complete spontaneity. We did find an unbelievable deal on a condo, packed as much food as we could, and drove 14 hours to save the cost of an extra hotel. By the time we hit the road I had already been up for 14 hours and by the time we “landed” in PCB I had been up for 29 hours. Wowzer was I a weeee bit tired. Oh and I also forgot my restless leg meds, so the drive was literal torture for me. But, we made it, with a lot of stops to stretch, switching drivers, and some good old 80’s and 90’s music of course. There’s something special, and a little disturbing, about your 14 year old singing along with you to “No Scurbs.”

We spent 3 days soaking in the clear emerald water, white sand, perfect pool, and my favorite, the palm trees. I keep trying to convince my husband to let me get one but he says we live in Ohio….and????

Anyway, moral of the story…..sometimes you just need to pack up the car and get away. Take the trip. Make the memories.
